October 15, 2016 – Perinton Bike-Hike Way

Head out the canal towards Fairport. Stay on the canal past Fairport, then take the pedestrian bridge across the canal to pick up the Perinton Bike-Hike Way. Follow the Bike-Hike Way until you get to Hogan – turn right on Hogan, then right on Rt. 31. Turn left on Turk Hill, then right on Garnsey. A right on 96 returns you to the parking lot. Distance is 11.4 miles.

For 7 miles, go out the canal to Perinton Town Park, turn around and retrace your steps back to the parking lot.

TRAIL OPTION – Stay on the Perinton Bike-Hike Way past Hogan – look for the orange trail on the right just past a small bridge. Take the orange trail over to 31, cross over Rt. 31 and continue on the orange trail all the way to the Christmas Tree Farm. Stay on orange around the left edge of the field, then turn right on the white trail and follow this over to Doc Lilac’s Lilac Farm. Pop out on Turk Hill Rd, turn right, then left on Garnsey. A right turn on 96 will bring you back to the parking lot. Distance is 13 miles.

For 12.6 miles – Stay on the Bike-Hike Way to Mason/Rt. 31. Turn right on 31, then rejoin the first route.

For 13.7 miles – Stay on the Bike-Hike Way to Egypt-Victor Rd (Lollypop Farms). Turn around and retrace your steps to 31. Turn left on 31 and rejoin the first route.

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn right on Fishers Rd. Turn left on Benson and follow this all the way to 96. Turn right on 96, then left on Rowley, then left on Willowbrook. Turn left on High St, then a right on Eleanor. Turn right on Gillis, then turn left on Cobble Creek Rd. Follow Cobble Creek Rd over to Egypt-Victor Rd, and turn left.  Turn left on Valentown, then right on Baker. Turn left on Steele, cross over Turk and continue on Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, then right on Vineyard Hill. Turn left on Garnsey and then a right on 96 brings you back to the parking lot. Distance is 13.4 miles.

Head out the canal towards Pittsford. In the village, go past the railroad trestle and turn right into the Town Highway Department drive. Pick up the trail on the left that will connect over to the Auburn Trail. Cross over French and follow the trail until you are across the street from the Springhouse Commons. Cross over 31 and pick up the old Erie Canal Trail that runs behind Wegmans. Follow this back across French Rd and connect back with the Barge Canal, and follow the canal all the way back to the Basin. Distance is 11.6 miles.

For around 8 miles, stay on the canal to the 2nd time Rt 31 crosses the canal, turn around and retrace your steps.

For 14.8 miles, follow the standard route. When the Old Erie Canal reconnects with the Barge Canal, turn right and run over to the JCC. Turn around and run all the way back to the basin along the towpath.

MCC 5k for Scholarships – October 8, 2016

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn right on Park Rd. Turn right on East, then left on Thornell. Take the Thornell to the end, then turn left on W. Bloomfield. Cross over the Thruway, then turn right on Canfield. Turn right on Pittsford Mendon Center Rd. Turn right on Barker, then right on W. Bloomfield.  Turn left on Thornell and take this all the way back to the basin. Turn right on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is 11.9 miles.

For 7.4 miles – on Thornell, turn left on Pittsford Mendon Rd, then left onto Van Voorhis. Turn left on East, then right on Thornell and back to the basin.

All routes – turn left out of the parking lot, then turn right on Fishers Rd. Bear right at the pond to stay on Fishers Rd, then turn right on Railroad Mills. Go straight to continue on Probst.

For 7.4 miles – from Probst, turn right on Mile Square – it will change names to East.  Then turn right on Park Rd. At 96 turn left and return to the parking lot

For 10 miles – from Probst turn left on Mile Square. Turn left on Main St. Fishers, then left on Log Cabin. Turn left on Benson, then right on Fisher Rd. A left a 96 brings you back to the parking lot.

September 10, 2016 – Seneca to Auburn Trails

For Trails – turn left out of the parking lot and head towards the mall. At Moseley, turn left and take the immediate right on LaSalle.  Pick up the Seneca Trail at the end of LaSalle. Trail runs behind Bed Bath & Beyond, crosses over Turk Hill, then follows the power line. Near the top of the hill, the trail heads off to the right. Trail crosses over High Point Drive and then down to Valentown Museum. Cross over High Street and pick up the trail opposite Valentown. Trail will lead behind Walmart, then over to Willoughbrook. Turn right on Willowbrook, then after you pass thru the tunnels, turn right to continue on the Seneca Trail.  Follow the trail thru Ambush Valley. Trail will lead you to 96 across from Rt. 251. Cross over 96 and head down Rt. 251.  Pick up the blue trail (old trolley trail) on the right just before you get to the Auburn trail (like 20 yards or so).  Follow the blue trail to the Lehigh Trail. Turn left on the Lehigh Trail, then take the ramp down to the Auburn Trail. Turn left on the Auburn trail and follow this to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, left on Corduroy, right on Park, then left on 96 to return to the parking lot. Distance is 13.3 miles.

For 9.4 miles – Left out of the parking lot, run up 96 to the mall. Turn left onto High St. Right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, right on 96, then left on Benson. Turn right on Fishers Rd then left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

For 15.8 – from the 14.6 route – on School St., stay on School to Dryer. Turn right on Dryer, then right on Cork. Turn right on 251, then left on Auburn Trail, follow this to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, left on Corduroy, right on Park, then left on 96 to return to the parking lot.

From the Park and Ride – turn left on 96, then left on Garnsey and head up the hill.  Turn left on Turk Hill, then right on 31.  Turn right onto the parking area for Indian Hill.  Take whatever trail up the hill you want to up to the top.  Head over to the far side of the big open field and pick up the orange trail over to the pine tree farm.  Stay on orange out towards Turk Hill along the left side of the tree farm – stay on orange and head out to Turk Hill. Turn right on Turk, then left on Garnsey. A right on 96 returns you to the parking lot. Distance is about 9 miles

You can increase the distance by turning left on Turk Hill and then picking up the Crescent Trail off Turk Hill on the right after you pass by Beaumont.  Follow the Crescent Trail back to Garnsey then out to the Park and Ride. Could be 12 miles. Could be more.

For mostly roads,

Stay on Rt. 31 beyond the parking area of Indian Hill– turn right on Thayer, right on Steele, cross over Turk into Beaumont, right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, left on Garnsey and back to the basin.  Or turn right on Turk Hill and then right to go into the Lilac Nursery. Distance is 10 miles.

For 11.2 – on Turk Hill continue heading north across Rt. 31. Turn right on Ayrault, then pick up the Perinton Bike Hike Way and turn right.  Turn right on Hogan, then left on 31.  Turn right onto Thayer and rejoin the 10 mile route.

For 12.4 – stay on Turk Hill until you get to Pebble Hill Rd.  Turn right on Pebble Hill Rd, then right on Perinton Bike Hike Way and rejoin the 11.2 mile route.

For 14.2 – take Turk Hill to the canal – get on the canal and head east, then cross over the canal to continue on the Perinton Bike Hike Way.  Take the Bike Hike Way all the way to Rt. 31.  Turn right on 31, then left on Thayer, rejoining the 10 mile route.

We are expecting a special guest appearance by Sven this week, and he has requested that we run the Fisher’s Run

For 9.5 miles – Turn left onto 96, right on Park Rd.  Turn left on Corduroy, and then left on Woolston.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, then left on Main St. Fishers.  Turn right on Lower Fishers, left on Benson.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, then return thru Powder Mills Park (left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd)  Turn left on 96 and back to the parking lot.

Note: On any route, you can skip the Lower Fishers option by staying on Log Cabin. This shortens any route by 1 mile.

You can skip Powder Mills Park on the way back by staying on Fishers Rd to 96. This shortens any route by 0.6 miles

For 13.3 miles – start with the standard route. At Main St. Fishers, turn right, then take a left on Old Dutch. Turn left on the Lehigh Trail – run this over to the Auburn Trail, turn left, and follow this back to Main St. Fishers. Turn right on Main St Fishers, and rejoin the standard route.

For more trails – consider going into the trails of Fishers Town Park on Main St. Fishers before you get to Old Dutch. The trails in there can be challenging to navigate – try to find your way to the connector that takes you over to Lehigh Trail. Turn left, and then after you cross over Wangum, look for the Domine Trails located on the left. There are three options, all of which should bring you out to the Auburn Trail. Turn left and return to the main route.

August 20, 2016 – Crescent Trail

The main route this week will be the Crescent Trail. Turn left out of the parking lot, then left on Garnsey and take the first left, Sully’s Trail. Turn right on Kreag, then turn right into the parking lot of the church to pick up the trail over by the dumpsters. Follow the trail over to Garnsey, cross over Garnsey and continue up to Woodcliff. You can decide whether to turn around or to continue on as far as you like!

Road Option

Take 96 towards the mall. Turn left on Woodcliff, then a right on Moseley. Turn left onto Neuchatel. Turn left on Beauclaire, cross over Turk Hill and head up Steele. Turn left at the top of the hill onto Thayer, then at the next intersection turn left to continue on Thayer. Turn left on 31, left on Turk and a right on Garnsey brings you back to 96. Turn right on return to the parking lot. Distance is 11 miles.

Turn left on Egypt-Victor Rd, then turn left on the Perinton Bike Hike way after passing Lollypop. Turn left on 31, then left on Turk Hill. Right on Garnsey, right on 96 brings you back to the start.
