February 1, 2020 – Up Thayer

Post-run coffee –Panera Bread past the mall on 96.

Turn left on 96, then left on Garnsey, turn left on Turk Hill, then right on 31.  Turn right on Thayer, right on Steele, cross over Turk into Beaumont, right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, left on Garnsey and back to the basin.  Distance is 10 miles.

For 11.3 – on Turk Hill continue heading north across Rt. 31. Turn right on Ayrault, then turn right on Hogan, then left on 31.  Turn right onto Thayer and rejoin the 10 mile route.

For 13 – stay on Turk Hill until you get to Pebble Hill Rd.  Turn right on Pebble Hill Rd, then right on Bridgewood Dr..then a right on Falling Brook Rd. This will bring you to Ayrault – turn left on Ayrault, then rejoin the 11.3 mile route with a right on Hogan.

January 25, 2020 – The Original Hearnish 10K

This week the Oven Door Runners play host to the Freezeroo series with the running of the Hearnish 5 mile in Victor.  In honor of this occasion, I thought we should run the route of the original race, the Hearnish 10K.  The short route is 8.7 miles, which includes getting to and returning from the original route.

Turn left out of the Park-n-Ride.  Turn right onto Park Rd.  Take Park Road all the way to East St.  Turn left onto East St.  East will change names to Mile Square.  Turn left onto Probst.  Turn left onto Miles Cutting, then a right onto Railroad Mills.  At the intersection with Probst –  turn left to continue on Railroad Mills.  Go up the big hill.  Turn left onto Fishers Rd, then take a left onto Woolston.  Right onto Corduroy, right onto Park Rd and a left onto 96 brings you back to the Park-n-Ride.

For the longer option – when you get to the top of the hill on Railroad Mills – turn right on Fishers Rd and finish with a traditional Fishers Run.  Turn left on Main St Fishers, left on Log Cabin, right on Lower Fishers, left on Benson, right on Fishers and return to Park-n-Ride through Powder Mills Park.  This Distance is 12.6 miles.

(Bypassing Lower Fishers by staying on Log Cabin reduces distance by a mile.  Bypassing the return through Powder Mills Park by staying on Fishers to 96 reduces the distance by 0.6 miles)

January 18,2020 – Main St. Fishers to Mile Square

Post Run Coffee – Panera Bread near the mall

Turn left out of the parking lot onto 96.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, and then take a left onto Benson.  Stay on Benson all the way to 96.  Turn right on 96, then right on Main St. Fishers.  Run the entire length of Main St. Fishers.  Turn right on Mile Square, then turn right on Park Rd.  Left on 96 brings you back to the parking lot.  Distance is 11.9 miles

For 8.9 miles, on Main St. Fishers, turn right on Fishers Rd and follow this all the way to 96. Turn left on 96 and back to the parking lot

For 14 miles – Follow the standard route. On Mile Square, turn left on Smith, right on Mendon Rd., then right on Cole. Rejoin the standard route by turning left on Mile Square.

January 11, 2020 – Mendon Ponds Park

Post-run coffee – Panera Bread past the mall on 96.

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn right on Park Rd. Turn right on East, then left on Thornell. Take the Thornell to the end, then turn left on W. Bloomfield. Cross over the Thruway, then turn right on Canfield. Turn right on Pittsford Mendon Center Rd. Turn right on Barker, then right on W. Bloomfield.  Turn left on Thornell and take this all the way back to the basin. Turn right on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is 11.9 miles.

For 7.4 miles – on Thornell, turn left on Pittsford Mendon Rd, then left onto Van Voorhis. Turn left on East, then right on Thornell and back to the basin.

For 9.4 miles – on W. Bloomfield, turn left on Canfield just before you get to the Thruway. Turn left on Pittsford Mendon Rd, then turn right on Van Voorhis. Turn left on East, then right on Thornell and back to the basin.

For 14.9 miles – on Canfield continue on straight past Mendon Center Rd to Clover. Turn right on Clover, then right on Willard. Turn right on Mendon Center Rd, then left on Barker. Turn right on W. Bloomfield.  Turn left on Thornell and take this all the way back to the basin. Turn right on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is      14.9 miles.

January 4, 2020 – The Springhouse Run

Post-run coffee –  Panera Bread past the mall on 96.

Head out the canal towards Pittsford. In the village, go past the railroad trestle and turn right into the Town Highway Department drive. Pick up the trail on the left that will connect over to the Auburn Trail. Cross over French and follow the trail until you are across the street from the Springhouse Commons. Cross over 31 and pick up the old Erie Canal Trail that runs behind Wegmans. Follow this back across French Rd and connect back with the Barge Canal, and follow the canal all the way back to the Basin. Distance is 11.6 miles.

For around 8 miles, stay on the canal to the 2nd time Rt 31 crosses the canal, turn around and retrace your steps.

For 14.8 miles, follow the standard route. When the Old Erie Canal reconnects with the Barge Canal, turn right and run over to the JCC. Turn around and run all the way back to the basin along the towpath.
