June 29, 2019 – Crescent Trail or Garnsey-Turk-Steele

Post-run coffee –

If the weather is good – picnic table next to the Marathon Station by the canal.

If the weather is bad –  Panera Bread past the mall on 96.

Crescent Trail – Turn right out of the parking lot, then right on Kreag Rd. Pick up the Crescent Trail behind the church on the right. Take the Crescent Trail over to Garnsey, cross over and continue on the trail. When you are half tired, turn around and return to the start.

Road Routes – Garnsey Turk Steele

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn left onto Garnsey.  Right on Turk, then left on Steele.  Turn right at the top of Steele and head down Baker.  Turn right on Valentown, then at High St, turn left (yes – turn left).  Turn right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, then right on 96 followed by a left on Benson.  Turn right on Fishers, then left on 96 and back to the parking lot.  Distance is 12.2 miles.

For 6.6 miles – when on Turk Hill – Stay on Turk Hill past Steele. Turn right on 96 and back to the parking lot.

For 9 miles – at Valentown and High St – turn right on High St, then right on 96 and back to the parking lot.

For 15 miles – From Baker, turn left on Valentown, then right on Egypt-Victor Rd.  Turn right on Aldridge, right on High St, then left on Willowbrook, rejoining the main route.  Then on Fishers Rd, come back thru Powder Mills Park (left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd.)

June 22, 2019 – Mendon Ponds Park

Post-run coffee –

If the weather is good – get your coffee and refreshments to go from either Tim Horton’s, Brueggar’s, or the Marathon Station (which sells donuts from Donuts Delite) and let’s hang out by the canal between Abbot’s and the Marathon Station. There are picnic tables located there.

If the weather is bad –  Panera Bread past the mall on 96.

PLEASE NOTE: IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT PARK RD IS BLOCKED OFF. MODIFY ALL ROUTES BY TURNING RIGHT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT RUN INTO THE BASIN AND THEN TURN LEFT ON THORNELL. (THIS KNOCKS A HALF MILE OR SO OFF ALL ROUTES)

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn right on Park Rd. Turn right on East, then left on Thornell. Take the Thornell to the end, then turn left on W. Bloomfield. Cross over the Thruway, then turn right on Canfield. Turn right on Pittsford Mendon Center Rd. Turn right on Barker, then right on W. Bloomfield.  Turn left on Thornell and take this all the way back to the basin. Turn right on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is 11.9 miles.

For 7.4 miles – on Thornell, turn left on Pittsford Mendon Rd, then left onto Van Voorhis. Turn left on East, then right on Thornell and back to the basin.

For 9.4 miles – on W. Bloomfield, turn left on Canfield just before you get to the Thruway. Turn left on Pittsford Mendon Rd, then turn right on Van Voorhis. Turn left on East, then right on Thornell and back to the basin.

For 14.9 miles – on Canfield continue on straight past Mendon Center Rd to Clover. Turn right on Clover, then right on Willard. Turn right on Mendon Center Rd, then left on Barker. Turn right on W. Bloomfield.  Turn left on Thornell and take this all the way back to the basin. Turn right on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is      14.9 miles.

June 15, 2019 – The Springhouse Run

Post-Run Meeting Place –

            If the weather is good – get your coffee and refreshments to go from either Tim Horton’s, Brueggar’s, or the Marathon Station (which sells donuts from Donuts Delite) and let’s hang out by the canal between Abbot’s and the Marathon Station. There are picnic tables located there.

            If the weather is bad –  Panera Bread past the mall on 96.

Head out the canal towards Pittsford. In the village, go past the railroad trestle and turn right into the Town Highway Department drive. Pick up the trail on the left that will connect over to the Auburn Trail. Cross over French and follow the trail until you are across the street from the Springhouse Commons. Cross over 31 and pick up the old Erie Canal Trail that runs behind Wegmans. Follow this back across French Rd and connect back with the Barge Canal, and follow the canal all the way back to the Basin. Distance is 11.6 miles.

For around 8 miles, stay on the canal to the 2nd time Rt 31 crosses the canal, turn around and retrace your steps.

For 14.8 miles, follow the standard route. When the Old Erie Canal reconnects with the Barge Canal, turn right and run over to the JCC. Turn around and run all the way back to the basin along the towpath.

June 8, 2019 – White Brook Nature Trails

Post-Run Coffee –

If the weather is good – grab your refreshments from your favorite place and meet at the canal between the Marathon Station and Abbotts.

If the weather is bad – meet at Panera Breads near Eastview.

Trails and Roads –  head out the canal towards Fairport.  Exit onto Ayrault and head east.  Turn right on the Perinton Bike Hike Way.  Cross over Hogan, then turn left on Mason.  Turn right on Ranney Dr. When Ranney Dr. crosses over the creek – you can pick up the orange trail. Follow the orange trail over to Broadmoor, cross over and continue on Orange.  Follow orange between the ponds, then bear to the right to follow orange over to Aldrich.  Turn right on Aldrich, then left into the White Brook Nature Center.  Turn left in the parking lot to continue on orange.  Follow the orange markers thru the park and you should come out (hitting white near the end) at the corner of Ayrault and Aldrich.  Follow Ayrault back the canal and return to the basin.  Distance is 13.9 miles.

Road Route – head out the canal towards Fairport.  Exit onto Ayrault and head east.  Turn right on the Perinton Bike Hike Way.  Follow this over to Egypt Victor Rd near Lollypop Farms.  Turn left on Egypt Victor Rd, right on 31, and the left on Aldrich.  Turn left onto Ayrault and follow this all the way back to the basin.  Distance is 12.8 miles.

Road route short cuts – from the Perinton Bike Hike Way – turn left on Mason, then left on Ayrault and rejoin the main route.  Distance is 11 miles.

Or turn left on Hogan, then left on Ayrault, rejoin main route.  Distance is 9.3 miles.

TRAILS ONLY –for those who feel there are too many roads to get to the trails – meet at the Park and Ride – then car pool over with me to the parking lot on Ayrault next to the Perinton Bike Hike Way.  We will make it a loop by following the Hike way over to Mason, then pick up the Crescent Trail over to Broadmoor, the White Brook Nature Trails, then run along the south side of the canal all the way to the Perinton Bike Hike Way and back  to the cars.  8.3 miles or maybe more.
