January 13, 2018 – Run Cancelled
The forecast for overnight Friday into mid-day Saturday is not good for travel or running. I am going to break with tradition and recommend everyone sleep in this week. Roads will most likely not be plowed, making both driving and running dangerous. I am guessing plows will be circulating while we would be running.
I doubt the canal will be runnable either.
For those who insist on coming out – you are on your own. Be safe!
June 18, 2016 – Gillis
Turn left out of the parking lot and head towards the mall. Turn left onto High St, then left onto Gillis. Turn left into Cobblestone Creek. Take the first two right turns and continue on Cobble Creek Rd. Turn left on Egypt-Victor Rd, then left on Valentown. Turn right on Baker, then left on Steele. Cross over Turk Hill and continue on Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, then right on Vineyard Hill Rd. Turn left on Garnsey, then right on 96 and return to the parking lot. Distance is 12.1 miles.
For 8.8 miles – on High St. turn left on Valentown, then left on Baker. Turn left on Steele, cross over Turk Hill and continue on Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, then right on Vineyard Hill Rd. Turn left on Garnsey, then right on 96 and return to the parking lot.
For 15.3 miles – Stay on Gillis past Cobblestone Creek. Crossover Egypt Victor Rd and stay on Gillis. Turn left on Cline, then left on Bortle. Turn right on Blazey, then left on Richardson. Turn left on Egypt Victor Rd, then right on Valentown. Turn right on Baker, then left on Steele. Cross over Turk Hill and continue on Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, then right on Vineyard Hill Rd. Turn left on Garnsey, then right on 96 and return to the parking lot.
March 5, 2016 – Around the Bay – 7:00 am start
This week is our annual Around the Bay (Irondequoit Bay) Run, a joint run with the Bagel Bunch and the Gold Rush Runners. Starting time will be 7:00 am, from the Parking lot at the end of Culver Rd, on the west side of the bay outlet. Turn left out of the parking lot and head up the hill on Culver. ( or head up Sea Breeze Expressway if pathway is clear of snow). Turn left on Titus and turn right on Kane Rd. sidewalk is clogged with snow) Turn left onto East Ridge Rd, and then take a right on Bay Shore Blvd. Next take a right on Bay View Rd and head up the hill. At the top of the hill turn left to stay on Bay View Rd, then turn left on Glen Haven Rd. You will make a left to continue on Bay Front S. Turn right to go up a steep hill – Orchard Park Blvd. This will bring you to Empire. Turn left on Empire – go down the hill and up the other side. Turn left onto Bay Rd. Follow Bay Rd until you cross over Rt. 104 and then take the first left – Volk Rd. (This will get you away from the fast moving traffic on Bay Rd.) Turn right on Dewitt. At the tee-intersection turn right (Backus Rd) and that will bring you back to Bay Rd. Turn left on Bay Rd. Take a left at the tee with Lake Rd. You have about a mile to go at this point. Run across the bridge and back to your car. The distance is 15.0 miles.
