We had a very low turn-out this week – only 2 ran the route. Blame it on weather (it poured!), the holiday (Easter) and the upcoming marathon (Boston). But the route seemed so nice I am going to re-run it this week!

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn right on Fishers Rd. Turn left onto Benson and follow Benson all the way to Rt. 96 – turn right on 96, then turn left onto Rowley (across from Main St Fishers) Stay on Rowley which will bring you back to 96. Turn left on 96, then right on Rt 251. Turn right on the Auburn Trail and follow the Auburn Trail all the way to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, then left on Corduroy, and right on Park Rd. A left on 96 brings you back to the parking lot – distance is 12 miles.

For 9.8 miles – when on 96 past Benson – turn right on Main St Fishers – and then when in Fishers – turn right on the Auburn Trail and rejoin the main route.

Or – For 9.2 miles when on Benson turn right on Lower Fishers, then left on Log Cabin, right on Main St Fishers. A right on the Auburn Trail then rejoins the main route.

And if you are looking for something longer – start with the 12 mile route – when approaching Rt251, stay on 96, then turn left on Lane. Then turn right on High St. In the village of Victor – turn left on 96, then right on School St. Turn right on Rawson, then pick up the Auburn Trail – turning right. Follow the Auburn Trail all the way back to Powder Mills Park, rejoining the main route.

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn left onto Garnsey. Right on Turk, then left on Steele. Turn right at the top of Steele and head down Baker. Turn right on Valentown, then at High St, turn left (yes – turn left). Turn right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, then right on 96 followed by a left on Benson. Turn right on Fishers, then left on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is 12.2 miles.

Head out the canal towards Fairport. Take the pedestrian bridge across the canal after you pass Turk Hill, which puts you on the Perinton Bike Hike Way.

For 10.3 miles, turn right on Ayrault Rd, then return to the basin on the canal.

For 12 miles stay on the Perinton Bike Hike Way to Hogan. Turn left, then take a left on Ayrault, and pick up the canal to return to the basin.

For 15.5 miles, take the Perinton Bike Hike Way across Rt 31 and continue to Lollypop. Turn left on Egypt-Victor Rd. Turn right on Rt 31, then left on Aldrich. Take a left on Ayrault, and pick up the canal to return to the basin.

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn right on Park Rd. Turn right on East, then left on Thornell. Take the Thornell to the end, then turn left on W. Bloomfield. Cross over the Thruway, then turn right on Canfield. Turn right on Pittsford Mendon Center Rd. Turn right on Barker, then right on W. Bloomfield. Turn left on Thornell and take this all the way back to the basin. Turn right on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is 11.9 miles.

For 7.4 miles – on Thornell, turn left on Pittsford Mendon Rd, then left onto Van Voorhis. Turn left on East, then right on Thornell and back to the basin.

March 22, 2025 – Springhouse Run

I cannot believe the last time we did the Springhouse Run was mid-August! Well the canal should be clear enough, so here goes!

Head out the canal towards Pittsford. In the village, go past the railroad trestle and turn right into the Town Highway Department drive. Pick up the trail on the left that will connect over to the Auburn Trail. Cross over French and follow the trail until you are across the street from the Springhouse Commons. Cross over 31 and pick up the old Erie Canal Trail that runs behind Wegmans. Follow this back across French Rd and connect back with the Barge Canal, and follow the canal all the way back to the Basin. Distance is 11.6 miles.

For around 8 miles, on the Auburn Trail take the nature trail option on the left shortly after you get on the Auburn Trail. The nature trail will take you back to the canal

For 14.8 miles, follow the standard route. When the Old Erie Canal reconnects with the Barge Canal, turn right and run over to the JCC. Turn around and run all the way back to the basin along the towpath.

March 15, 2025 – Turk Hill and Moseley

Turn left out of the parking lot, and head towards the mall on 96. Turn left onto Woodcliff, then turn right on Moseley. Turn left onto Neuchatel. Turn left on Beauclaire, then a left on Turk Hill.

Stay on Turk Hill all the way to Winding Brook Drive – almost all the way to the village of Fairport. Then turn left on Moseley, and take Moseley to Garnsey. Turn right on Garnsey then right on 96 and return to the parking lot. Distance is 12.5 miles.

March 8, 2025 – A Modified Fishers Run

Turn left out of the parking lot. Stay on 96 to Fishers Rd – turn right. Take Fishers Rd all the way to Main St Fishers – turn left and then immediately right on Wangum. Turn left on Rt. 251 and then an immediate right on Willis Hill Rd. Turn left on Modock Rd. Then turn left on Raccoon Run – which will turn into Deer Crossing and bring you back to 251. Turn left on 251 followed by an immediate right on Phillips. Phillips will take you to Main St Fishers – turn left, then take a right onto Log Cabin. Stay on Log Cabin to Benson and turn left. Turn right onto Fishers Rd, and return thru Powder Mills Park – left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd and left on 96. Distance is 12.3 miles.

Any route – you can add one mile if on Log Cabin you take a right on Lower Fishers then left on Benson.

You can shorten any route by about a half mile if you bypass the return thru Power Mills Park

March 1, 2025 – Knickerbocker Hill but with a different return!

This week we will start with the Knickerbocker Hill route – turn left out of the parking lot, turn right on Park Rd. Turn right on East, then left on Thornell. Turn right on Mill Rd, then bear left to continue on East. Turn left on 96, then left on Knickerbocker Hill.

At the top of Knickerbocker – here comes the different return. Turn left onto Stuyvesant Rd, and follow Stuyvesant until Charter Oaks Drive – on the right. Charter Oaks Drive will take you out to Rt 64, Mendon Rd. Turn left on to Mendon Rd. Stay on Mendon Rd until you get to Van Voorhis – turn left. Van Voorhis will bring you back to East – turn left on East, then right on Park Rd to 96, turn left and return to the parking lot.

Distance is 12 miles.

For 11.3 miles – start with above route – on Mendon Rd – turn left onto Thornell. Then right on East, left on Park Rd and rejoin the main route.

For 10.6 – follow 11.3 mile route but stay on Thornell all the way back to 96 and to the parking lot.

For 8 miles – skip Knickerbocker – stay on 96 , turn right on Mitchell, then right on 31 and then right on Marsh Rd and return to the basin. (Or take the canal from Mitchell– only marginally shorter, but who knows what the canal surface will be like)

February 22, 2025 – Mile Square to Taylor

Turn left out of the parking lot, and then turn right onto Fishers Rd. Turn right on Railroad Mills – then go straight to continue on Probst. At the tee with Mile Square turn left. Take Mile Suqare until it ends at Taylor. Turn left onto Taylor. Taylor ends at Strong – turn left on Strong. Turn right on 251, then left on Wangum. Turn left on Main St Fishers, then right on Fishers Rd. Take Fishers all the way back to 96, turn left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

February 15, 2025 – East Rochester/Penfield and Marsh Rd

Turn right out of the parking lot – then turn right on Kreag. Turn left on Ayrault, then right on Jefferson. Turn left on 31F, then right on Baird. Take Baird all the way up to 441 – then turn left on 441. Turn left on Five Mile Line Rd. Take a right on Linden and then a left on Bluff Drive. The road will change names to North Lincoln Rd, then South Lincoln Rd, and the Marsh Rd. Take Marsh Rd all the way back to the basin and return to the parking lot.
