April 2, 2016 – Seneca to Auburn Trails

For Trails – turn left out of the parking lot and head towards the mall. At Moseley, turn left and take the immediate right on LaSalle.  Pick up the Seneca Trail at the end of LaSalle. Trail runs behind Bed Bath and Beyond, crosses over Turk Hill, then follows the power line. Near the top of the hill, the trail heads off to the right. Trail crosses over High Point Drive and then down to Valentown Museum. Cross over High Street and pick up the trail opposite Valentown. Trail will lead behind Walmart, then over to Willoughbrook. Turn right on Willowbrook, then after you pass thru the tunnels, turn right to continue on the Seneca Trail.  Follow the trail thru Ambush Valley. Trail will lead you to 96 across from Rt. 251. Cross over 96 and head down Rt. 251.  Pick up the blue trail (old trolley trail) on the right just before you get to the Auburn trail (like 20 yards or so).  Follow the blue trail to the Lehigh Trail. Turn left on the Lehigh Trail, then take the ramp down to the Auburn Trail. Turn left on the Auburn trail and follow this to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, left on Corduroy, right on Park, then left on 96 to return to the parking lot. Distance is 13.3 miles.

For Road Routes

For 9.4 miles – Left out of the parking lot, run up 96 to the mall. Turn left onto High St. Right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, right on 96, then left on Benson. Turn right on Fishers Rd then left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

11.3 miles – Left out of the parking lot, run up 96 to the mall. Turn left onto High St. Right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, cross over 96 and continue on Main St. Fishers. Right on Auburn Trail and follow this to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, left on Corduroy, right on Park, then left on 96 to return to the parking lot.

For 12.6 – on High St, continue past Willowbrook, then right on Lane. Turn right on 96 then left on 251. Right on Auburn Trail and follow this to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, left on Corduroy, right on Park, then left on 96 to return to the parking lot.

For 14.6 – on High St., continue past Lane. At Main St in Victor, turn left. Turn right on School, then right on Rawson. Right on Auburn Trail and follow this to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, left on Corduroy, right on Park, then left on 96 to return to the parking lot.

For 15.8 – from the 14.6 route – on School St., stay on School to Dryer. Turn right on Dryer, then right on Cork. Turn right on 251, then left on Auburn Trail, follow this to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, left on Corduroy, right on Park, then left on 96 to return to the parking lot.

Head out the canal towards Fairport. Take the pedestrian bridge across the canal that connects to the Perinton Bike Hike Way. Follow the Bike Hike Way across Ayrault to Hogan. Turn right on Hogan, then left on 31. Turn right on Thayer, and at the intersection with Bluhm turn right to continue on Thayer. Turn right on Steele, cross over Turk Hill onto Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, then left on Garnsey. A right on 96 will return you to the parking lot. Distance is 13.2 miles.

Trail Option – Stay on Perinton Bike Hike Way past Hogan. Pick up the Orange Trail on the right – cross over 31 and continue on the Orange Trail all the way to SCR Lane. Turn right on Steele, rejoining the main route

For 7.5 miles – run the canal path to Perinton Town Park and turn around at O’Connor.

For 10.3 miles – and a few less hills – follow the main route until the Bike Hike Way crosses Ayrault. Turn right on Ayrault and reconnect with the canal. Take the canal back to the basin.

For 11.4 miles – follow the main route until you get to 31. There, turn right on 31, then left on Turk Hill. Turn right on Garnsey, then right on 96.

For 14.8 miles – Follow the main route. Stay on the Perinton Bike Hike Way all the way to Lollypop Farms. Turn around and run back to 31. Turn left on 31, then rejoin the main route by turning left on Thayer.

Head out 96 towards the mall – turn right on Fishers Road. Bear left onto Benson, then turn right on Log Cabin. Turn right on Main St. Fishers, then left onto the Auburn Trail. At the next road, Phillips, turn right. At 251, turn left and then turn right on Deer Crossing. The name changes to Raccoon Run. Turn right on Modock. Turn right on Willis Hill. Turn left on 251, then right on Wangum Rd. Turn left on Main St Fishers, then right on Fishers Rd. Turn left on 96 and head back to the parking lot

For 7.5 miles – when you get to Main St Fishers the first time, turn right and then turn right on Fishers Road and return to 96,

Head out the canal towards Pittsford. In the village, go past the railroad trestle and turn right into the Town Highway Department drive. Pick up the trail on the left that will connect over to the Auburn Trail. Cross over French and follow the trail until you are across the street from the Springhouse. Cross over 31 and pick up the old Erie Canal Trail that runs behind Wegmans. Follow this back across French Rd and connect back with the Barge Canal, and follow the canal all the way back to the Basin. Distance is 11.6 miles.

For around 8 miles, stay on the canal to the 2nd time Rt 31 crosses the canal, turn around and retrace your steps.

For 14.8 miles, follow the standard route. When the Old Erie Canal reconnects with the Barge Canal, turn right and run over to the JCC. Turn around and run all the way back to the basin along the towpath.

March 5, 2016 – Around the Bay – 7:00 am start

This week is our annual Around the Bay (Irondequoit Bay) Run, a joint run with the Bagel Bunch and the Gold Rush Runners. Starting time will be 7:00 am, from the Parking lot at the end of Culver Rd, on the west side of the bay outlet.  Turn left out of the parking lot and head up the hill on Culver. ( or head up Sea Breeze Expressway if pathway is clear of snow). Turn left on Titus and turn right on Kane Rd.   sidewalk is clogged with snow) Turn left onto East Ridge Rd, and then take a right on Bay Shore Blvd.  Next take a right on Bay View Rd and head up the hill.   At the top of the hill turn left to stay on Bay View Rd, then turn left on Glen Haven Rd.  You will make a left to continue on Bay Front S.  Turn right to go up a steep hill – Orchard Park Blvd.  This will bring you to Empire.  Turn left on Empire – go down the hill and up the other side.  Turn left onto Bay Rd.  Follow Bay Rd until you cross over Rt. 104 and then take the first left – Volk Rd.  (This will get you away from the fast moving traffic on Bay Rd.)  Turn right on Dewitt.  At the tee-intersection turn right (Backus Rd) and that will bring you back to Bay Rd.  Turn left on Bay Rd.  Take a left at the tee with Lake Rd.  You have about a mile to go at this point.  Run across the bridge and back to your car.  The distance is 15.0 miles.
