February 4, 2023 – The Original Hearnish 10K Freezeroo

This Saturday is supposed to be very cold. So it seemed fitting to me that we run the original Hearnish 10 K Freezeroo course as part of the route.

Turn left out of the Park-n-Ride.  Turn right onto Park Rd.  Take Park Road all the way to East St.  Turn left onto East St.  East will change names to Mile Square.  Turn left onto Probst.  Turn left onto Miles Cutting, then a right onto Railroad Mills.  At the intersection with Probst –  turn left to continue on Railroad Mills.  Go up the big hill.  Turn left onto Fishers Rd, then take a left onto Woolston.  Right onto Corduroy, right onto Park Rd and a left onto 96 brings you back to the Park-n-Ride. Distance is 8.7 miles.

For the longer option – when you get to the top of the hill on Railroad Mills – turn right on Fishers Rd and finish with a traditional Fishers Run.  Turn left on Main St Fishers, left on Log Cabin, right on Lower Fishers, left on Benson, right on Fishers and return to Park-n-Ride through Powder Mills Park.  This Distance is 12.6 miles.

(Bypassing Lower Fishers by staying on Log Cabin reduces distance by a mile.  Bypassing the return through Powder Mills Park by staying on Fishers to 96 reduces the distance by 0.6 miles)

January 28, 2023 – Gillis Rd

All routes – turn left out of the parking lot and head up 96 to the Mall. Turn left onto High St Extension and then left onto High St.

For 12.1 miles – from High St, turn left on Gillis, then left on Cobble Creek Rd. Take the first two right turns to continue on Cobble Creek Rd. Turn left on Egypt Victor Rd, then left on Valentown. Turn right to head up Baker, then left on Steele. Cross over Turk Hill and continue on Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, then left on Garnsey. Turn right on 96 and return to the parking lot.

For 8.9 miles – from High St, turn left on Valentown, then left on Baker.  Left on Steele, cross over Turk Hill and continue on Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, then left on Garnsey. Turn right on 96 and return to the parking lot.

For 14 miles – Take Gillis past Cobble Creek. Cross over Egypt-Victor, then turn left on Blazey. Turn left on Richardson, left on Egypt-Victor Rd, then right on Valentown, rejoining the main route.

For 16 miles – follow 14 mile route. On Blazey – continue on Blazey past Richardson. Blazey changes names to Daley. Turn left on Wilkinson, then left on Egypt-Victor, and rejoin the 14 mile route.

January 21, 2023 – Calkins Rd

Head out to the canal – take the canal towards Pittsford.  Take the old train bed trail on the right after crossing the bridge over to Mitchell – turn left and cross over the canal to Rt. 96. Turn left on 96, then right on Crestview.  At the second intersection with Hilltop – turn left, and then left on S. Main St.  Continue straight on Pittsford Mendon Center Rd.  At a four way intersection continue going straight on Calkins Rd.  Turn left on Clover, then left on Willard.  Turn right on Mendon Rd., then left on Barker.  Turn right on W. Bloomfield, then left on Thornell.  Turn right on East, then left on Park Rd. Turn left on 96 and return to the parking lot.  Distance is 12.2 miles.

For 7.9 miles –  When you get to 96 and Mitchell, turn left on 96, then take a right on East. Turn right on Mill Rd, then a left on Thornell. Turn right on East, then left on Park Rd. Turn left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

January 14, 2023 – Pittsford Mendon Rd.

Short Route – Turn left out of the parking lot. Turn right on Park Rd and follow to the end. Turn right on East, then left on Thornell. Turn left at the stop light – Pittsford Mendon Rd. Turn left on Van Voorhis. Turn left on East, then right on Thornell and return to the basin. Distance is 7.5 miles.

For 10.7 miles – start with the short route. On Pittsford Mendon Rd go past Van Voorhis. Turn left on Cole Rd, then left on Mile Square which turns into East, rejoining the short route.

January 7, 2023 – Perinton Bike Hike Way and Ayrault Rd

Head out the canal t0 Fairport. Take the pedestrian bridge across the canal after you pass Turk Hill, which puts you on the Perinton Bike Hike Way.

For 10.3 miles, turn right on Ayrault Rd, then return to the basin on the canal.

For 12 miles stay on the Perinton Bike Hike Way to Hogan. Turn left, then take a left on Ayrault, and pick up the canal to return to the basin.

For 15.5 miles, take the Perinton Bike Hike Way across Rt 31 and continue to Lollypop. Turn left on Egypt-Victor Rd. Turn right on Rt 31, then left on Aldrich. Take a left on Ayrault, and pick up the canal to return to the basin.

December 31, 2022 – Holiday Neighborhood Run

This year’s holiday run will take place in the neighborhood bounded by Kreag Rd, Rt. 31, Moseley and Garnsey

Start with a left out of the parking lot, turn left on Garnsey, then left onto Sully’s Trail. From this point on, at any intersection turn right.Now begin with only right hand turns. This includes turning right onto dead ends. When you reach the dead end, turn around and continue.

When running done a dead end, turn around when you meet the lead runner. If this works out as planned, we should all end the run near the same time.

When on Garnsey and you reach Sully’s Trail – then continue straight to 96 and return to the parking lot.

Thus the route you run can be anywhere from 7.4 to 11.6 miles!

December 24, 2022 – The Fishers Run

Be sure to bundle up and put anti-slip grips on your shoes!

The traditional Fishers Run, from the parking lot is 9.5 miles – Turn left onto 96, right on Park Rd.  Turn left on Corduroy, and then left on Woolston.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, then left on Main St. Fishers.  Turn left on Log Cabin, then right on Lower Fishers, and then left on Benson.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, then return thru Powder Mills Park (left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd)  Turn left on 96 and back to the parking lot.

Note: You can skip the Lower Fishers option by staying on Log Cabin. This shortens any route by 1 mile.

You can skip Powder Mills Park on the way back by staying on Fishers Rd to 96. This shortens any route by 0.5 miles

For 7.5 miles – take 96 directly to Fishers Rd. Left on Main St. Fishers, then left on Log Cabin. Stay on Log Cabin, then left on Benson, right on Fishers Rd, then left on 96.

For 12.5 miles – start with the standard route. At Main St. Fishers, turn right, then take a left on Old Dutch. Turn left on 251, left on Wangum, then right on Main St Fishers, and rejoin the standard route. Or take the Lehigh Trail over to Wangum.

December 31, 2022 – 6:30 am start – Park-n-Ride lot – A right-hand turn run through the neighborhoods bounded by Sully’s Trail, Kreag, 31, Moseley and Garnsey.

Plan to meet at the  Kennelley Park Gazebo at 7:45 am for the 2022 Holiday Picture. The Gazebo is located between the Fairport Library and the canal on the southwest corner of the canal and Rt. 250. Choose your route there depending on how far you can run in an hour and five minutes.

All routes – get on the canal and head towards Fairport.

For 7.1 miles to the Gazebo – go just past Perinton Town Park, turn left onto O’Connor (like you do for the Linear Park Run), then turn right on Whitney. Take Whitney to Turk Hill, and turn right on Turk Hill. Cross over the canal and then turn right on East Church St. Turn right on Rt. 250/South Main St. Gazebo will be on the left just before the canal.

For 6 miles – stay on the canal past Perinton Town Park. Follow the towpath Turk Hill, and turn right. Cross over the canal and then turn right on East Church St. Turn right on Rt. 250/South Main St. Gazebo will be on the left just before the canal.

For 5 miles to the Gazebo – stay on the canal past Perinton Town Park. Bear left on to Lift Bridge Lane, cross over N. Main St (250), then turn right on Parker St. Turn right into the parking lot for Packett’s Landing, and exit onto Main St – turning right onto Main St. Just before the lift bridge, you will find the Gazebo on the left.

For 4.5 miles to the Gazebo – stay on the canal past Perinton Town Park. Bear left on to Lift Bridge Lane, turn right on N. Main St (250) – the Gazebo will be on the right just after crossing over the canal

Shortest route – 4.1 miles to the Gazebo – From the parking lot – turn right on 96, then right on Kreag. Turn right on Ayrault, then left on Nettlecreek. Turn left on Gaxton, then right on Clarkes Crossing, then left on Rt. 250. Gazebo will be on the left just before the canal.

For 5.2 miles back to the car – Turn right onto South Main St (250). Turn right on Ayrault, then turn left into Martha Brown Middle School. Pick up the sidewalk that connects to a cul-de-sac, then turn left on Valley Creek Dr. Cross over Rt. 31, and continue on Blackwatch Trail. Turn left on Dunmow, then right on Garnsey. A right on 96 will return you to the parking lot.

This week – Knickerbocker Hill Run

All routes – start by turning left out of the parking lot. Then turn right on Park Rd, right on East, left on Thornell and then a right on Mill. Turn left on East, then left on 96.

For 8 miles – turn right on Mitchell, then turn right on the Auburn Trail that takes you to the canal. Follow the Canal back to the basin.
