March 5, 2022 – Around the Bay

Starting Location: Parking lot at the end of Culver Rd in Irondequoit

Starting time: 7:00 am

A joint run with the Bagel Bunch and the Gold Rush Runners

Starting from the Parking lot at the end of Culver Rd.  Turn left out of the parking lot and turn left on the Sea Breeze Expressway. At Titus get on the right side of the Express way and take the sidewalk onto Kane. Turn left onto East Ridge Rd, and then take a right on Bay Shore Blvd.  Next take a right on Bay View Rd and head up the hill.   At the top of the hill turn left to stay on Bay View Rd, then turn left on Glen Haven Rd.  You will make a left to continue on Bay Front S.  Turn right to go up a steep hill – Orchard Park Blvd.  This will bring you to Empire.  Turn left on Empire – go down the hill and up the other side.  Turn left onto Bay Rd.  Follow Bay Rd until you cross over Rt. 104 and then take the first left – Volk Rd.  (This will get you away from the fast moving traffic on Bay Rd.)  Turn right on Dewitt.  At the tee-intersection turn right (Backus Rd) and that will bring you back to Bay Rd.  Turn left on Bay Rd.  Take a left at the tee with Lake Rd.  You have about a mile to go at this point.  Run across the bridge and back to your car.  The distance is 14.2 miles.

February 26, 2022 – Main St Fishers and Mile Square

This week – 6:30 am start at the Park and Ride in Bushnell’s Basin

Turn left out of the parking lot and take 96 to right on Fishers Rd. Turn left onto Benson, and then turn right on Lower Fishers. Turn left on Log Cabin, then turn right on Main St. Fishers. Follow this to Mile Square and turn right. Mile Square will change names to East. Turn right on Thornell, then right on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is 11 miles.

February 19, 2022 – Garnsey Turk Steele

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn left onto Garnsey.  Right on Turk, then left on Steele.  Turn right at the top of Steele and head down Baker.  Turn right on Valentown, then at High St, turn left (yes – turn left).  Turn right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, then right on 96 followed by a left on Benson.  Turn right on Fishers, then left on 96 and back to the parking lot.  Distance is 12.2 miles.

February 12, 2022 – Calkins Rd

Head out to the canal – take the canal towards Pittsford.  Take the old train bed trail on the right after crossing the bridge over to Mitchell – turn left and cross over the canal to Rt. 96. Turn left on 96, then right on Crestview.  At the second intersection with Hilltop – turn left, then left on S. Main St.  Continue straight on Pittsford Mendon Center Rd.  At a four way intersection continue going straight on Calkins Rd.  Turn left on Clover, then left on Willard.  Turn right on Mendon Rd., then left on Barker.  Turn right on W. Bloomfield, then left on Thornell.  Turn right on East, then left on Park Rd. Turn left on 96 and return to the parking lot.  Distance is 12.2 miles.

Head out the canal towards Fairport. Exit onto Ayrault and turn right, heading east on Ayrault.

January 29, 2020 – The Original Hearnish 10K

Turn left out of the Park-n-Ride.  Turn right onto Park Rd.  Take Park Road all the way to East St.  Turn left onto East St.  East will change names to Mile Square.  Turn left onto Probst.  Turn left onto Miles Cutting, then a right onto Railroad Mills.  At the intersection with Probst –  turn left to continue on Railroad Mills.  Go up the big hill.  Turn left onto Fishers Rd, then take a left onto Woolston.  Right onto Corduroy, right onto Park Rd and a left onto 96 brings you back to the Park-n-Ride. Distance is 8.7 miles.

For the longer option – when you get to the top of the hill on Railroad Mills – turn right on Fishers Rd and finish with a traditional Fishers Run.  Turn left on Main St Fishers, left on Log Cabin, right on Lower Fishers, left on Benson, right on Fishers and return to Park-n-Ride through Powder Mills Park.  This Distance is 12.6 miles.

(Bypassing Lower Fishers by staying on Log Cabin reduces distance by a mile.  Bypassing the return through Powder Mills Park by staying on Fishers to 96 reduces the distance by 0.6 miles)

January 22, 2021 – The Fishers Run

Forecast is for below zero temperatures (-6F) at the start, with a windchill that could be down to (-20F).  So if you decide to come out, be sure to bundle up. Nellie will not be out this week, and apparently neither will her handlers. I am going to suggest the Fishers Run – it is mostly sheltered.

The traditional Fishers Run, from the parking lot is 9.5 miles – Turn left onto 96, right on Park Rd.  Turn left on Corduroy, and then left on Woolston.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, then left on Main St. Fishers.  Turn left on Log Cabin, then right on Lower Fishers, and then left on Benson.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, then return thru Powder Mills Park (left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd)  Turn left on 96 and back to the parking lot.

Note: You can skip the Lower Fishers option by staying on Log Cabin. This shortens any route by 1 mile.

All routes – turn left out of the parking lot and head up 96 to the Mall. Turn left onto High St Extension and then left onto High St.

For 12.1 miles – from High St, turn left on Gillis, then left on Cobble Creek Rd. Take the first two right turns to continue on Cobble Creek Rd. Turn left on Egypt Victor Rd, then left on Valentown. Turn right to head up Baker, then left on Steele. Cross over Turk Hill and continue on Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, then left on Garnsey. Turn right on 96 and return to the parking lot.

Short Route – Turn left out of the parking lot. Turn right on Park Rd and follow to the end. Turn right on East, then left on Thornell. Turn left at the stop light – Pittsford Mendon Rd. Turn left on Van Voorhis. Turn left on East, then right on Thornell and return to the basin. Distance is 7.5 miles.

January 1. 2022 – Holiday Neighborhood Run

Starting Place – Bushnell’s Basin Park and Ride

Starting Time – 6:30 am

Turn right out of the Park and Ride and run thru the basin, turn left on Thornell. From this point on – take every left hand turn whenever there is an option to turn left.

When you reach a dead end, turn around and continue with taking only left hand turns.

When you meet someone faster than you coming back from a dead end, you can turn with them.

Eventually you will find yourself back at the Park and Ride. Here you can take a right to get back into the parking lot.

Distance if you run to every dead end – 10 miles
