Alternate starting location – park in the parking lot behind the Fire Station in Fishers, next to the Auburn Trail. Run the Auburn Trail towards Victor. Stay on the trail all the way thru Victor and beyond to Mertensia. Turn around at Mertensia and retrace your steps. Or consider following the Seneca Trail on the way back – look for a red trail marker on the right shortly after crossing Rawson on the way back.  Distance is 12.6 miles.

For 15.1 miles from Fishers – when you get to Mertensia, turn right on Mertensia Rd, then right on Boughton Hill Rd. Follow this all the way to Malone. Turn right on Malone, then left on Dryer followed by a right on Willis Hill Rd. Turn left on Rt. 251 then right on Wangum. Turn right on Main St Fishers and return to the Fire Station.

For those still wanting to start at the park-n-ride, turn left out of the parking lot, then turn right on Park Road. Turn left on Corduroy, then right on Woolston. Pick up the Auburn Trail with a left turn. Follow the Auburn Trail to Main St Fishers – turn left. Take Main St Fishers to 96, turn left and take a left on Benson. Follow Benson to Fishers Rd – turn right and then take a left on 96 and return to the parking lot. Distance is 9.8 miles.

According to the news, the Marsh Road Bridge is now open during the day – so we can run the Halloween Run without a detour! Plan for the picture in front of the tepees around 7:30 am or so.

Head out the canal towards Pittsford – exit onto N. Main St –  Rt. 96 North – turn right.  Take a right on Washington, followed by a right on Golf Ave.  Turn left into Powers Farm Market, just before Marsh Rd.  Gather at the teepees for a picture. Return along Marsh Rd, connecting with the canal just after crossing Rt. 31, and return to the basin.  Distance is 9.1 miles.

For something just a little longer – on Marsh Rd just before getting to 31, take the old trolley trail into the woods on the right.  Follow this thru the Senior Complex – and out to 31.  Cross over 31 and pick up the old train bed trail back to the canal – canal back to the basin.  Distance is 10.2 miles

Turn left out of the parking lot. Turn right on Park Rd, then right on East. Turn left on Thornell, then right on Mill Rd. Turn left on East, left on 96, then left on Knickerbocker. Turn right on Mendon, then take the straight option onto Stone. Follow Stone to Clover.  And know for the twist – turn left on Clover, then left on Willard. Turn right on Pittsford Mendon Center Rd, then left on Barker. Turn right on W. Bloomfield, then a left on Thornell and return to the Basin. Distance is 13.9 miles.

Turn left out of the parking lot and head towards the mall. Take High St, then turn left on Gillis. Turn left into Cobblestone Creek. Take the first two rights, then stay on Cobble Creek Rd over to Egypt Victor Rd. Turn left on Egypt Victor Rd, then turn left on Valentown. Turn right on Baker, then left on Steele. Cross over Turk Hill and continue on Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, then left on Garnsey. A right on 96 brings you back to the parking lot. Distance is 12.1 miles.

Turn right out of the parking lot, then get on the canal and head towards Fairport. Turn right on Ayrault Rd.

For 13.8 with trails – turn right on the Perinton Bike Hike Way. Cross over Hogan, then turn left on Mason. Pick up the Orange marked trail on the right before crossing a small stream. Follow orange trail – cross over Broadmoor and continue on. Take a right that carries you between two small ponds. Take the right turns to continue on orange. Cross over Aldrich, and enter the parking lot for the White Brook Nature Center. Pick up the orange trail on the left side of the parking lot. Follow orange until you almost get to Ayrault, where a white trail will take you to the corner of Ayrault and Aldrich.  Follow Ayrault all the way back to the canal, and follow the canal back to the basin.

For 10.3 with no trails – on Ayrault, turn left onto the Perinton Bike Hike Way. Take this to the canal and follow the canal back to the basin.

For 12.6 with no trails – on Ayrault, turn left onto Lyndon, cross over the canal and take the pedestrian ramp to the canal. Follow the canal back to the basin.

For 15.4 miles with no trails – on Ayrault, turn right on Perinton Bike Hike Way. Follow this across Hogan, Mason and Rt.31 over to Egypt/Victor Rd at Lollypop Farms. Turn left, then a right on 31 followed by a left on Aldrich. Turn left onto Ayrault, then right on Lyndon. Cross over the canal and take the pedestrian ramp to the canal. Follow the canal back to the basin.

For trails only – after everyone else starts running, car pool over to the parking area at Ayrault and the Perinton Bike Hike Way. We will make it a loop by following the Hike way over to Mason, then pick up the Crescent Trail over to Broadmoor, the White Brook Nature Trails, then run along the south side of the canal all the way to the Perinton Bike Hike Way and back  to the cars.  8.3 miles or maybe more.

Turn left out of the parking lot. Turn left on Garnsey, then left on Turk Hill. Turn right into the parking lot for the Indian Hill section of the Crescent Trail. Take your favorite trail to the top, then take the trails over to SCR lane. Turn right on Steele. Cross over Turk Hill and head up Beaumont.  Turn right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, then left on Garnsey.  A right on 96 returns you to the parking lot.  Distance is 9.5 (or so…..)

For 9.9 miles on roads – start with the trail route. Stay on 31 to Thayer – turn right. At Bluhm, turn right to continue on Thayer. Turn right on Steele. . Cross over Turk Hill and head up Beaumont.  Turn right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, then left on Garnsey.  A right on 96 returns you to the parking lot.

September 20, 2014 – Seneca Trail in Victor

This week the main route will start in Victor!  Meet at the parking lot behind Mickey Finn’s in Victor.  From the basin – take 96 into Victor and turn right on Maple (Rt. 444).  Just before going up the hill as you are leaving the village, turn left onto Railroad St and park the car.

The route goes back out to Maple and onto Dryer.  The trail begins on the left – it is marked with Red markers.  This trail will take you thru the ground of Ganondagon, and will take you out to School Rd.  Turn left on School then a right on Boughton Hill Rd followed by a quick left into a driveway – look for trail markers.  Then continue to follow the red markers all the way to the Fairport Reservoir and to Boughton Rd.  Turn around and re-trace your steps back to the car – distance is around 12-13 miles.

There are other trail options – at School St, you can just cross over and continue over to Fort Hill and then continue to follow the trail over to the Dryer Rd Bike Trail park.
