January 23, 2021 – Garnsey-Turk-Steele

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn left onto Garnsey.  Right on Turk, then left on Steele.  Turn right at the top of Steele and head down Baker.  Turn right on Valentown, then at High St, turn left (yes – turn left).  Turn right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, then right on 96 followed by a left on Benson.  Turn right on Fishers, then left on 96 and back to the parking lot.  Distance is 12.2 miles.

For 6.6 miles – when on Turk Hill – Stay on Turk Hill past Steele. Turn right on 96 and back to the parking lot.

January 16, 2021 – Mile Square

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn right on Park Rd. Turn left on East. East will change names to Mile Square. Turn left onto the Lehigh Trail, then take the ramp on the right down to the Auburn Trail. Turn left on the Auburn Trail and follow this across Main St. Fishers to Fishers Rd. Turn right on Fishers Rd., then left on 96 and return to the parking lot. Distance is 12.7 miles.

For 7.4 miles – on Mile Square, turn left on Probst, then rejoin the main route by turning left on Fishers Rd.

For 14.9 miles – stay on Mile Square to the end. Turn left on Taylor, then right on Strong. Turn left on Dryer, then left on Willis Hill. Turn left on 251, right on Wangum, left on Main St Fishers then right on Fishers Rd and re-join the main route.

January 9, 2021 – Linear Park Run

Head out the canal path towards Fairport.  Exit the canal onto O’Connor.  Turn left on Whitney.  Whitney will turn into Five Mile Line Rd.  Turn left on Rt. 441, then left into Linear Park.  Cross over Irondequoit Creek and head up the hill.  Turn left on Lincoln Mills, left on Linden then right on Bluff.  Turn left into Eyer Park.  Take the trail over to Midvale – turn left.  Turn right on Baird, left into BOCES, then take the trail around the back.  Turn right on O’Connor and then right on the canal and back to the basin.  Distance is 13.5 miles.

For 11.8 miles, turn left on Linden from Whitney and then left on Bluff Dr., rejoining the main route

For 9.2 miles – on Whitney – turn left on Baird, then left into BOCES, rejoining the main trail

For 7.5 miles – run the canal until you get to O’Connor, then turn around and retrace your steps back to the parking lot.

For 16 miles – follow the main route – when you return to the canal turn left and run over to Turk Hill. Turn around and follow the canal back to the basin.

December 26, 2020 – Holiday Neighborhood Run – Marsh Rd

This week’s run will be thru the neighborhood around Marsh Rd. Lots of the homes in this neighborhood are decorated with bright lights that were on as I drove past this weekend. Thought it would be nice to see all the lights.

Turn right out of the parking lot, turn right on Marsh Rd. Cross over the canal and continue on Marsh Rd.

The rule for this run is to turn right at every intersection. When you get to a cul-de-sac, turn around. When you get to Rt. 31, turn around. When you arrive back at Rt. 96, turn left and return to the parking lot.

Slower runners can turn around when the lead runners are coming back from a cul-de-sac.

If you run to the end of every cul-de-sac, the distance is 12.2 miles. Your actual mileage may vary

December 12, 2020 – Gillis Rd

All routes – turn left out of the parking lot and head up 96 to the Mall. Turn left onto High St Extension and then left onto High St.

For 12.1 miles – from High St, turn left on Gillis, then left on Cobble Creek Rd. Take the first two right turns to contine on Cobble Creek Rd. Turn left on Egypt Victor Rd, then left on Valentown. Turn right to head up Baker, then left on Steele. Cross over Turk Hill and continue on Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, then left on Garnsey. Turn right on 96 and return to the parking lot.

For 8.9 miles – from High St, turn left on Valentown, then left on Baker.  Left on Steele, cross over Turk Hill and continue on Beauclaire. Turn right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, then left on Garnsey. Turn right on 96 and return to the parking lot.

For 14 miles – Take Gillis past Cobble Creek. Cross over Egypt-Victor, then turn left on Blazey. Turn left on Richardson, left on Egypt-Victor Rd, then right on Valentown, rejoining the main route.

For 16 miles – follow 14 mile route. On Blazey – continue on Blazey past Richardson. Blazey changes names to Daley. Turn left on Wilkinson, then left on Egypt-Victor, and rejoin the 14 mile route.

All routes – start by turning left out of the parking lot. Then turn right on Park Rd, right on East, left on Thornell and then a right on Mill. Turn left on East, then left on 96.

For 8 miles – turn right on Mitchell, then turn right on the Auburn Trail that takes you to the canal. Follow the Canal back to the basin.

For 9.4 miles – stay on 96 into Pittsford. Turn right on S. Main St, then turn right on State St. (Rt. 31). Pick up the canal and return to the basin.

For 10.7 miles – from 96, turn left onto Knickerbocker Rd and head up the hill. Turn right onto Mendon Rd, then at the stoplight turn right. Go into the village of Pittsford, turn right on 31 – State St. At the bridge over the canal- pick up the canal and take the canal back to the basin.

For 13.2 miles – from 96, turn left onto Knickerbocker Rd and head up the hill. Turn right onto Mendon Rd, then at the stoplight go straight onto Stone. Stay on Stone (turn left off Tobey). Turn right on Clover, cross over the canal and pick up the canal for the run back to the basin

November 28, 2020 – Indian Hill Section of Crescent Trail or Up Thayer!

For the trail option – from the Park and Ride – turn left on 96, then left on Garnsey, turn left on Turk Hill, then right on 31.  Turn right onto the parking area for Indian Hill.  Take whatever trail up the hill you want to up to the top.  Head over to the far side of the big open field and pick up the orange trail over to the pine tree farm.  Stay on orange out towards Turk Hill along the left side of the tree farm. Turn right on Turk Hill, left on Garnsey, then right on 96.  Distance is about 9 miles.

You can increase the distance by turning left on Turk Hill and then picking up the Crescent Trail off Turk Hill on the right after you pass by Beaumont.  Follow the Crescent Trail back to Garnsey then out to the Park and Ride

For mostly roads,

Stay on Rt. 31 beyond the parking area of Indian Hill– turn right on Thayer, bear right to stay on Thayer at the intersection with Bluhm, right on Steele, cross over Turk into Beaumont, right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, left on Garnsey and back to the basin.  Or turn right on Turk Hill and then right to go into the Lilac Nursery. Distance is 10 miles.

For 11.2 – on Turk Hill continue heading north across Rt. 31. Turn right on Ayrault, then pick up the Perinton Bike Hike Way and turn right.  Turn right on Hogan, then left on 31.  Turn right onto Thayer and rejoin the 10 mile route.

For 12.4 – stay on Turk Hill until you get to Pebble Hill Rd.  Turn right on Pebble Hill Rd, then right on Perinton Bike Hike Way and rejoin the 11.2 mile route.

For 14.2 – take Turk Hill to the canal – get on the canal and head east, then cross over the canal to continue on the Perinton Bike Hike Way.  Take the Bike Hike Way all the way to Rt. 31.  Turn right on 31, then left on Thayer, rejoining the 10 mile route.

November 21, 2020 – White Brook Nature Trails

Trails and Roads –  head out the canal towards Fairport.  Exit onto Ayrault and head east.  Turn right on the Perinton Bike Hike Way.  Cross over Hogan, then turn left on Mason.  Turn right on Ranney Dr. When Ranney Dr. crosses over the creek – you can pick up the orange trail. Follow the orange trail over to Broadmoor, cross over and continue on Orange.  Follow orange between the ponds, then bear to the right to follow orange over to Aldrich.  Turn right on Aldrich, then left into the White Brook Nature Center.  Turn left in the parking lot to continue on orange.  Follow the orange markers thru the park and you should come out (hitting white near the end) at the corner of Ayrault and Aldrich.  Follow Ayrault back the canal and return to the basin.  Distance is 13.9 miles.

Road Route – head out the canal towards Fairport.  Exit onto Ayrault and head east.  Turn right on the Perinton Bike Hike Way.  Follow this over to Egypt Victor Rd near Lollypop Farms.  Turn left on Egypt Victor Rd, right on 31, and the left on Aldrich.  Turn left onto Ayrault and follow this all the way back to the basin.  Distance is 12.8 miles.

Road route short cuts – from the Perinton Bike Hike Way – turn left on Mason, then left on Ayrault and rejoin the main route.  Distance is 11 miles.

Or turn left on Hogan, then left on Ayrault, rejoin main route.  Distance is 9.3 miles.

TRAILS ONLY –for those who feel there are too many roads to get to the trails – meet at the Park and Ride – then car pool over with me to the parking lot on Ayrault next to the Perinton Bike Hike Way.  We will make it a loop by following the Hike way over to Mason, then pick up the Crescent Trail over to Broadmoor, the White Brook Nature Trails, then run along the south side of the canal all the way to the Perinton Bike Hike Way and back  to the cars.  8.3 miles or maybe more.

November 7, 2020 – Crescent Trail or Neuchatel, Steele, Bluhm

With the change in the clocks, I thought we should take advantage of the light that we will have this week to hit the Crescent Trail – Turn left out of the parking lot, then left on Garnsey. Take the first left onto Sulley’s Trail. Turn right on Kreag Rd. Pick up the Crescent Trail behind the church on the right. Take the Crescent Trail over to Garnsey, cross over and continue on the trail. When you are half tired, turn around and return to the start.

For Road Route – Neuchatel , Steele and Bluhm.

Turn left out of the parking lot and head up 96 towards the mall. Turn left onto Moseley, then turn right on Neuchatel. Turn left on Beauclaire, cross over Turk and head up Steele. Turn left on Thayer, then go straight to continue on Bluhm. Turn right on Egypt-Victor Rd, then right on Valentown. Turn right on High St, then right on 96 and return to the parking lot. Distance is 12.5 miles.

October 31, 2020 – Halloween Picture Run to Powers Farm Market

This week is the annual Halloween Picture Run to Powers Farm Market. Dick Ware has agreed to take the picture. The teepees have been completely re-built this year. Whether or not we can get in is another question….

For the fast runners – Distance to Powers – 7.6 miles

Turn right out of the parking lot, turn right on Kreag Rd, then left on 31, take the ramp to the canal and follow the canal towards Pittsford. From here, run the traditional route to Powers – exit the canal at Schoen Place, turn right on N. Main St (96), then right on Washington followed by a right on Golf. A left into the parking lot of Powers just before Marsh Rd and you are there.

For middle speed runners – Distance to Powers – 5.3 miles

Get on the canal at the basin – head towards Pittsford. Turn right on N. Main St (96), then right on Washington followed by a right on Golf. A left into the parking lot of Powers just before Marsh Rd and you are there.

Get on the canal at the basin. Take the trail connector to Marsh Road just before the flood control gate. Take Marsh Rd to Powers.

For the return trip from Powers – 3.8 miles– Take Marsh Road –Cross over 31 and pick up the connector trail over to canal on the right. Follow the canal back to the basin
