August 15, 2026 – High St and the Auburn Trail or Seneca Trail and Auburn Trail

TRAIL OPTION – Head towards the mall on Rt. 96. Turn left on Moseley, then immediate right on Lasalle Parkway. At the end, pick up the Seneca Trail, which runs behind the Michaels Plaza. Cross over Turk Hill and continue on the Seneca Trail under the power line. Follow this into the woods on the right near the top of the hill. Cross over High Pointe and you will come out near Valentown Hall. Cross over High St and continue on the Seneca Trail to the left of the Restaurants. This trail will follow along 96 then go behind the Walmart Plaza, and come out on Willowbrook. Turn right, go under the bridges, then climb over the guard rail to continue on the Seneca Trail. Follow the trail into Ambush Valley, where General Denonville with around 3000 troops was attacked by Seneca Indians in 1687. Continue on the trail – you will come out on 96 across from Rt. 251. Take 251, then turn right on a blue trail, just before you get to the Auburn Trail. Follow the blue trail over to the Lehigh Trail – turn right on the Lehigh Trail, cross over the Auburn Trail, then take the ramp on the right down to the Auburn Trail. Turn left on the Auburn Trail – follow this to Fishers Rd. Turn right on Fishers Rd, then left on 96 and return to the parking lot. My best estimate is the trail route is 12.3 miles

ROAD OPTIONS

For 9.4 miles – Left out of the parking lot, run up 96 to the mall. Turn left onto High St. Right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, right on 96, then left on Benson. Turn right on Fishers Rd then left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

11.3 miles – Left out of the parking lot, run up 96 to the mall. Turn left onto High St. Right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, cross over 96 and continue on Main St. Fishers. Right on Auburn Trail and follow this to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, left on Corduroy, right on Park, then left on 96 to return to the parking lot.

For 14.6 – on High St., continue past Lane. At Main St in Victor, turn left. Turn right on School, then right on Rawson. Right on Auburn Trail and follow this to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, left on Corduroy, right on Park, then left on 96 to return to the parking lot.

For 15.8 – from the 14.6 route – on School St., stay on School to Dryer. Turn right on Dryer, then right on Cork. Turn right on 251, then left on Auburn Trail, follow this to Powder Mills Park. Turn right on Woolston, left on Corduroy, right on Park, then left on 96 to return to the parking lot.

August 8, 2026 – Cartersville Trail and Auburn Trail

All routes – Turn right out of the parking lot and run 96 towards Marsh Rd. Pick up the Cartersville trail on the right, between Marsh Road and the Marathon gas station, Stay on the trail until you are almost across from Knickerbocker. Cross over 96 and get on the Auburn Trail from the parking area.  Cross over Mill Rd, and then cross over Thornell to stay on the Auburn Trail – this will bring you to a driveway that leads to East St. Cross over East St and stay on the Auburn Trail, picking up the trail behind the power substation. Cross over Railroad Mills to stay on Auburn Trail

For 7.8 miles – turn left on Woolston, then left on Corduroy. Turn right on Park Rd, then left on 96 and return to the parking lot

August 1, 2026 – Smith and West Bloomfield

Turn left out of the parking lot. Turn right on Fishers Rd. Turn right on Railroad Mills. Go straight to continue on Probst. Turn left on Mile Square

For 9.5 miles- turn right on Cole Rd, then right on Pittsford-Mendon Rd. Turn right on Hedgewood, Take the nature trail on the left to Wren Field, turn left and pick up the nature trail over to Van Voorhees. Turn right on Van Voorhees, then left on East. Turn right on Park Rd, then left on 96 and back to the parking lot.

July 18, 2026 – Mostly Moseley

I won’t be there to get you started. Here is this week’s suggestion…..

Head out the canal towards Fairport. Exit the canal just past Perinton Park – turn left on to O’Connor. Turn right on Whitney, and then right on N. Main St.. Careful crossing over the railroad tracks. N. Main St changes names to S. Main St, and then changes again to Moseley. Take Moseley all the way to the end. Turn right on Rt. 96 and head back to the basin. Distance is 12.1 miles.

You can cut the distance to 10.7 miles if on Moseley you turn right on Garnsey and then right on 96.

You can cut the distance to 9.7 miles if you skip O’Connor and stay on the canal to Main St, and then take the Garnsey option

July 11, 2026 – Bromsgrove Hill Cul-de-Sac and others

Turn right out of the parking lot. Turn left onto Thornell. Take Thornell until you get to the traffic light – turn left on Pittsford Mendon Rd. Turn left on Bromgrove Hill. At the end of the cul-de-sac, pick up the pedestrian path. This will take you over to Sunrise Park.

At the next intersection, turn left to stay on Sunrise Park. This will bring you to Van Voorhis. Turn right on Van Voorhis, followed by a left on Pittsford Mendon Rd. Then take a left on Hedgewood Lane. Look for a pedestrian path between two houses – take the pedestrian path. This will take you over to Wren Field. Turn left on Wren Field, then take the pedestrian path at the end of the cul-de-sac over to Van Voorhis. Turn right on Van Voorhis. Then turn right on East/Mile Square. Turn left on Probst, the left on Railroad Mills. Turn right on Woolston, then left on Corduroy, right on Park Rd, then left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

Distance is 12.1 miles.

For 7.3 miles – start with the main route. At the first intersection with Van Voorhis, turn left. Then turn left on East, right on Park Road, then left on 96 and back to the parking lot.

July 4, 2026 – Garnsey Turk Steele

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn left onto Garnsey. Right on Turk, then left on Steele. Turn right at the top of Steele and head down Baker. Turn right on Valentown, then at High St, turn left (yes – turn left). Turn right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, then right on 96 followed by a left on Benson. Turn right on Fishers, then left on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is 12.2 miles.

Head out the canal towards Pittsford. In the village, go past the railroad trestle and turn right into the Town Highway Department drive. Pick up the trail on the left that will connect over to the Auburn Trail. Cross over French and follow the trail until you are across the street from the Springhouse Commons. Cross over 31 and pick up the old Erie Canal Trail that runs behind Wegmans. Follow this back across French Rd and connect back with the Barge Canal, and follow the canal all the way back to the Basin. Distance is 11.6 miles.

For around 8 miles, on the Auburn Trail take the nature trail (Frog Pond Loop) option on the left shortly after you get on the Auburn Trail. The nature trail will take you back to the canal

For 14.8 miles, follow the standard route. When the Old Erie Canal reconnects with the Barge Canal, turn right and run over to the JCC. Turn around and run all the way back to the basin along the towpath.

Turn left onto 96, right on Park Rd. Turn left on Corduroy, and then left on Woolston. Turn right on Fishers Rd, then left on Main St. Fishers. Turn left on Log Cabin, then right on Lower Fishers, and then left on Benson. Turn right on Fishers Rd, then return thru Powder Mills Park (left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd) Turn left on 96 and back to the parking lot.

Notes:

You can skip Lower Fishers by staying on Log Cabin. This shortens any route by 1 mile.

You can skip Powder Mills Park by staying on Fishers Rd. This shortens any route by 0.5 miles

For 7.5 miles – take 96 directly to Fishers Rd. Left on Main St. Fishers, then left on Log Cabin. Stay on Log Cabin, then left on Benson, right on Fishers Rd, then left on 96.

Turn right out of the parking lot, get on the canal and head towards Fairport. Exit on to Ayrault and turn right to head east. Turn right on Mason. Cross over Rt 31 and head up Loud. At the tee-intersection with Blum, turn right , then go straight at the intersection with Thayer. Turn right on Steele, cross over Turk and then take a right on Neuchatel, then a right on Vineyard Hill. Turn left on Garnsey, then right on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is 12.0 miles

Turn left out of the parking lot, then turn right on Park Rd. Turn right on East, then left on Thornell. Take the Thornell to the end, then turn left on W. Bloomfield. Cross over the Thruway, then turn right on Canfield. Turn right on Pittsford Mendon Center Rd. Turn right on Barker, then right on W. Bloomfield. Turn left on Thornell and take this all the way back to the basin. Turn right on 96 and back to the parking lot. Distance is 11.9 miles.
