First Optional Trail Section – The Hundred Acres Wood Trail – from Gillis turn right on Yale Ct. Near the end you will find a trail for the Hundred Acres Woods on the left. This trail is about ¾ mile long, and will take you over to Fox Hunt Drive. Fox Hunt Drive will take you back to Gillis. Turn right to continue the route. (This option adds about 1.4 miles to road route)
Second Optional Trail Section – The Bluebird Trail. From Egypt-Victor Rd, turn right into the Mary Frances Bluebird Haven. The turn is just before you get to Valentown Rd. The trail crosses the driveway into the Haven. You can go in either direction – it is a one mile loop that brings you back to where you started.
Third Optional Trail Section – The Monkey Run Trail. If you are feeling adventurous, consider trying the Monkey Run Trail. After leaving the Bluebird Trail, turn left on Victor Egypt Road and then immediately turn right on Springdale Ct, and look for the parking area on the right. From the parking area follow the white trail. Warning: There are multiple loops to the Monkey Run Trails. Runners have gotten lost in there during past Oven Door Runs. If you follow only right hand turns, then follow white to blue and one of the blue trails will take you out to Valentown. If you take only left hand turns – you will go from white to red to yellow to red to white to blue and then hopefully back to Valentown. Be aware that there are multiple blue marked trails that do not get you out to Valentown. This option can add up to 4 miles to the road route, depending on how lost you get.
Fourth Optional Trail Section – Genesee Land Trust. On Valentown, directly across from where the Monkey Run Trail connects with Valentown is a trail on land held by the Genesee Land Trust. Follow Blue to its end – then take red which leads you back to blue. At that intersection you can take yellow, then return to the intersection and take blue back to Valentown. Total distance can be about 1.5 miles if you take all options.
