July 3, 2021 – The Fairport Lift Bridge

The lift bridge in Fairport is going to be opened on Friday this week. In honor of that event, this week’s route will cross over the canal on that bridge.

Head out the canal towards Fairport. Exit the canal at Perinton Town Park onto O’Connor. Then turn right onto Whitney, followed by a right onto North Main St. Cross over the canal on the lift bridge and continue heading south. The road will change names and become Moseley. Stay on Moseley to the end – it will tee with Route 96. Turn right on 96 and return to the parking lot. Distance is 12.1 miles.

For 10.7 miles – when on Moseley, turn right on Garnsey, then right on 96 and return to the parking lot.

For 14.7 miles – when on Moseley, just before you get to 96, turn left onto Neuchatel, left on Beauclaire, then right on Turk Hill. Take a right on 96 and return to the basin.

June 26, 2021 – The Fishers Run

The traditional Fishers Run, from the parking lot is 9.5 miles – Turn left onto 96, right on Park Rd.  Turn left on Corduroy, and then left on Woolston.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, then left on Main St. Fishers.  Turn left on Log Cabin, then right on Lower Fishers, and then left on Benson.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, then return thru Powder Mills Park (left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd)  Turn left on 96 and back to the parking lot.

Note: You can skip the Lower Fishers option by staying on Log Cabin. This shortens any route by 1 mile.

You can skip Powder Mills Park on the way back by staying on Fishers Rd to 96. This shortens any route by 0.5 miles

For 7.5 miles – take 96 directly to Fishers Rd. Left on Main St. Fishers, then left on Log Cabin. Stay on Log Cabin, then left on Benson, right on Fishers Rd, then left on 96.

For 12.5 miles – start with the standard route. At Main St. Fishers, turn right, then take a left on Old Dutch. Turn left on 251, left on Wangum, then right on Main St Fishers, and rejoin the standard route. Or take the Lehigh Trail over to Wangum.

For 14.9 miles – start with the 12.5 mile route. On Route 251, turn right on Strong, left on Dryer, then left on Willis Hill Rd. Turn left on Rt 251, then right on Wangum re-joining the 12 mile route. (See note above about short cuts – could be 14.4, 13.9 or 12.9)

June 19, 2021 – And now for something completely different….

Turn left out of the parking lot.

Turn right on Fishers Rd.

Turn right on Woolston. Turn right on Railroad Mills.

Turn left on Sturbridge, then left on Fall Meadow. This will take you out to East.

Turn right on East.

Turn left on Thornell.

Turn left at the traffic light onto Pittsford Mendon Rd.

Take the first left onto Bromsgrove Hill.

At the end of the cul-de-sac, you will find a pedestrian path – follow this over to Sunrise Park.

At the next intersection take the left to continue on Sunrise Park.

Turn left on Van Voorhis.

When Van Voorhis turns left – take the pedestrian path on the right over to Wren Field Lane.

Turn left on Wild Berry Lane.

Turn right on East St.

East turns into Mile Square.

Turn left onto Probst.

Continue straight on Railroad Mills.

Turn left on Fishers Rd.

Turn left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

There may be a few hills….

Distance is 12 miles

Turn right on Van Voorhis.

June 12, 2021 – Cartersville Trail to Auburn Trail

Turn right out of the parking lot and run 96 towards the Basin. Pick up the Cartersville trail on the right, between Marsh Road and the Marathon gas station, Stay on the trail until you are almost across from Knickerbocker. Cross over 96 and get on the Auburn Trail from the parking area.  Cross over Mill Rd, and then cross over Thornell to stay on the Auburn Trail – this will bring you to a driveway that leads to East St. Cross over East St and stay on the Auburn Trail, picking up the trail behind the power substation. Cross over Railroad Mills to stay on Auburn Trail

For 7.8 miles – turn left Woolston, then left on Corduroy. Turn right on Park Rd, then left on 96 and return to the parking lot

For 9.4 miles – Stay on the Auburn Trail to Probst/Railroad Mills intersection. Turn left and head up the big hill. Turn left on Fishers Rd, then left on Woolston, right on Corduroy,right on Park Rd, then left on 96.

June 5, 2021 – A Few Hills

I will not be there to get you started this week. Dan Kress has offered to get you started – but if he starts speaking a language you don’t recognize, tell him “NO KLINGON!”

I have a few hills for you to run, but not in the order you are used to – so pay attention!

Turn left out of the parking lot, and head towards the mall on Rt. 96.

Turn left to up Woodcliff.

Turn left on Moseley.

Turn right on Garnsey.

Turn right to go up Vineyard Hill.

Turn left on Neuchatel, then left on Beauclaire.

Turn right on Turk Hill. This will bring you back towards the mall.

Turn left into the shopping plaza formerly occupied by Dick’s.

Turn left to go up High Point. This will take you out to Valentown.

Turn left on Valentown.

Turn left to go up Baker.

Turn left to go down Steele.

Turn right to go up Turk.

Turn left to go down Garnsey.

A right turn at 96 returns you to the parking lot.

For 14.4 miles – follow the 12 mile route until you are at the top of Baker. Continue straight on Thayer. At the intersection with Bluhm, turn left to continue on Thayer. Turn left on 31, then left to go up Turk Hill. Turn right on Garnsey and rejoin the 12 mile route.

When Woodcliff runs into Moseley, turn right.

Turn left onto Rt. 96.

Then a left to go up High Point (just before Starbucks on 96) and rejoin the 12 mile route.
