June 1, 2019 – High St and Fishers Rd

Post-Run Coffee – Panera Bread past Eastview Mall

Turn left out of the parking lot and head up 96 to the mall.

TRAIL OPTION – Turn left on Moseley, then immediate right on Lasalle Parkway. At the end, pick up the Seneca Trail, which runs behind the Plaza. Cross over Turk Hill and continue on the Seneca Trail under the power line. Follow this into the woods on the right near the top of the hill. Cross over High Pointe and you will come out near Valentown Hall. Cross over High St and continue on the Seneca Trail to the left of the Restaurants. This trail will follow along 96 then go behind the Walmart Plaza, and come out on Willowbrook. Turn right, go under the bridges, then climb over the guard rail to continue on the Seneca Trail. Follow the trail into Ambush Valley, where General Denonville with around 3000 troops was attacked by Seneca Indians in 1687. Continue on the trail – you will come out on 96 across from Rt. 251. Take 251, then turn right on a blue trail, just before you get to the Auburn Trail. Follow the blue trail over to the Lehigh Trail – turn right on the Lehigh Trail, cross over the Auburn Trail, then take the ramp on the right down to the Auburn Trail. Turn left on the Auburn Trail – follow this to Fishers Rd. Turn right on Fishers Rd, then left on 96 and return to the parking lot. Or just follow me. My best estimate is the trail route is 12.3 miles

For 9.4 miles – turn right on Willowbrook, then right on Rowley. Turn right on 96, then left on Benson. Turn right on Fishers Rd, then left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

For 12.1 miles – turn right on Lane, then right on 96 followed by a left on 251. Turn right on Wangum, then a left on Main St Fishers, then right on Fishers Rd. Turn left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

For 13.1 miles – turn right on Lane, then right on 96 followed by a left on 251. Turn left on Cork, then right on Modock. Turn right on Willis Hill, left on 251. Turn right on Wangum, then a left on Main St Fishers, then right on Fishers Rd. Turn left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

For 15 miles – stay on High St into the Village of Victor. Turn left onto Main St, then right onto School St. Turn right on Dryer, then right on Cork. Turn left onto Modock. Turn right on Willis Hill, left on 251. Turn right on Wangum, then a left on Main St Fishers, then right on Fishers Rd. Turn left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

May 25, 2019 – Linear Park Run

Post-Run Meeting Place –

            If the weather is good – get your coffee and refreshments to go from either Tim Horton’s, Brueggar’s, or the Marathon Station (which sells donuts from Donuts Delite) and let’s hang out by the canal between Abbot’s and the Marathon Station. There are picnic tables located there.

            If the weather is bad – let’s just meet at Tim Horton’s.

Head out the canal path towards Fairport.  Exit the canal onto O’Connor.  Turn left on Whitney.  Whitney will turn into Five Mile Line Rd.  Turn left on Rt. 441, then left into Linear Park.  Cross over Irondequoit Creek and head up the hill.  Turn left on Lincoln Mills, left on Linden then right on Bluff.  Turn left into Eyer Park.  Take the trail over to Midvale – turn left.  Turn right on Baird, left into BOCES, then take the trail around the back.  Turn right on O’Connor and then right on the canal and back to the basin.  Distance is 13.5 miles.

For 11.8 miles, turn left on Linden from Whitney and then left on Bluff Dr., rejoining the main route

For 9.2 miles – on Whitney – turn left on Baird, then left into BOCES, rejoining the main trail

For 7.5 miles – run the canal until you get to O’Connor, then turn around and retrace your steps back to the parking lot.

For 16 miles – follow the main route – when you return to the canal turn left and run over to Turk Hill. Turn around and follow the canal back to the basin.

May 18, 2019 –The Fishers Run – 40th Anniversary!


Please Note: On this day we celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the founding of the Oven Door Runners. Please join us for a celebration starting at 5 pm at the NY Beer Project located across from the Valentown Museum near Eastview Mall.

In honor of our 40th anniversary, it seems fitting to do our “signature” run – The Fishers Run !

The traditional Fishers Run, from the parking lot is 9.5 miles – Turn left onto 96, right on Park Rd.  Turn left on Corduroy, and then left on Woolston.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, then left on Main St. Fishers.  Turn left on Log Cabin, then right on Lower Fishers, and then left on Benson.  Turn right on Fishers Rd, then return thru Powder Mills Park (left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd)  Turn left on 96 and back to the parking lot.

Note: You can skip the Lower Fishers option by staying on Log Cabin. This shortens any route by 1 mile.

You can skip Powder Mills Park on the way back by staying on Fishers Rd to 96. This shortens any route by 0.5 miles

For 7.5 miles – take 96 directly to Fishers Rd. Left on Main St. Fishers, then left on Log Cabin. Stay on Log Cabin, then left on Benson, right on Fishers Rd, then left on 96.

For 12.5 miles – start with the standard route. At Main St. Fishers, turn right, then take a left on Old Dutch. Turn left on 251, left on Wangum, then right on Main St Fishers, and rejoin the standard route.

May 11, 2019 – Doc Lilac’s Lilac Nursery Run

Time to check out the Lilacs!

From the Park and Ride – turn left on 96, then left on Garnsey, turn left on Turk Hill, then right on 31.  Turn right onto the parking area for Indian Hill.  Take whatever trail up the hill you want to up to the top.  Head over to the far side of the big open field and pick up the orange trail over to the pine tree farm.  Stay on orange out towards Turk Hill along the left side of the tree farm – and take the white trail on the right over to Doc Lilac’s Lilac Farm. The trail comes up to a farm lane – turn right, then after you pass a set of beehives, the white trail goes into the woods and up to the Lilacs. Enjoy the Lilacs and then head out  to Turk Hill to Garnsey and back to the basin.  Distance is about 9 miles.

You can increase the distance by turning left on Turk Hill and then picking up the Crescent Trail off Turk Hill on the right after you pass by Beaumont.  Follow the Crescent Trail back to Garnsey then out to the Park and Ride

For mostly roads,

Stay on Rt. 31 beyond the parking area of Indian Hill– turn right on Thayer, right on Steele, cross over Turk into Beaumont, right on Neuchatel, right on Vineyard Hill, left on Garnsey and back to the basin.  Or turn right on Turk Hill and then right to go into the Lilac Nursery. Distance is 10 miles.

For 11.2 – on Turk Hill continue heading north across Rt. 31. Turn right on Ayrault, then pick up the Perinton Bike Hike Way and turn right.  Turn right on Hogan, then left on 31.  Turn right onto Thayer and rejoin the 10 mile route.

For 12.4 – stay on Turk Hill until you get to Pebble Hill Rd.  Turn right on Pebble Hill Rd, then right on Perinton Bike Hike Way and rejoin the 11.2 mile route.

For 14.2 – take Turk Hill to the canal – get on the canal and head east, then cross over the canal to continue on the Perinton Bike Hike Way.  Take the Bike Hike Way all the way to Rt. 31.  Turn right on 31, then left on Thayer, rejoining the 10 mile route.
