December 1, 2018 – Garnsey-Turk-Steele

Mellow Mug Closing Update – I spoke with Matt on Saturday. He is not sure when the last day is going to be, but apparently soon. No earlier that December 8th. I propose that after the closing, we try several different options on a rotating weekly basis, then have a vote to decide where our new meeting place will be. Stay tuned for updates.

Follow the Seneca Trail over to Turk Hill, and continue on the Seneca Trail which runs behind the Michaels Plaza. This trail will take you out to LaSalle Parkway. November 24, 2018 – The Springhouse Run

November 24, 2018 – Springhouse Run

The Mellow Mug is closing. We received news this week that the Mellow Mug will be closing at the end of the day on Saturday, December 8. In addition, the rumor is that the owner of the building is not interested in having a coffee shop at this location anymore. This is a sad day for the Oven Door Runners, as that location has been our post-run meeting place for 22 years! In the coming weeks we will need to decide on where we would like to meet after the run. In the basin, we have Bruggers and Tim Horton’s. The hotel next to the 490 on-ramp serves breakfast, though I don’t know if they would welcome non-guests. There are some options up at the mall, or into Pittsford village. I think it is important that we find a location we all agree on, as I see the post-run coffee as an important part of our group.

I propose that we hold our annual Christmas Holiday Picture Run on December 8, so that we can have one last picture at the coffee shop, so mark your calendars!

As for the route this week….

Head out the canal towards Pittsford. In the village, go past the railroad trestle and turn right into the Town Highway Department drive. Pick up the trail on the left that will connect over to the Auburn Trail. Cross over French and follow the trail until you are across the street from the Springhouse Commons. Cross over 31 and pick up the old Erie Canal Trail that runs behind Wegmans. Follow this back across French Rd and connect back with the Barge Canal, and follow the canal all the way back to the Basin. Distance is 11.6 miles.
