January 20, 2018 – Linear Park Run
Head out the canal path towards Fairport. Exit the canal onto O’Connor. Turn left on Whitney. Whitney will turn into Five Mile Line Rd. Turn left on Rt. 441, then left into Linear Park. Cross over Irondequoit Creek and head up the hill. Turn left on Lincoln Mills, left on Linden then right on Bluff. Turn left into Eyer Park. Take the trail over to Midvale – turn left. Turn right on Baird, left into BOCES, then take the trail around the back. Turn right on O’Connor and then right on the canal and back to the basin. Distance is 13.5 miles.
For 11.8 miles, turn left on Linden from Whitney and then left on Bluff Dr., rejoining the main route
For 9.2 miles – on Whitney – turn left on Baird, then left into BOCES, rejoining the main trail
For 7.5 miles – run the canal until you get to O’Connor, then turn around and retrace your steps back to the parking lot.
For 16 miles – follow the main route – when you return to the canal turn left and run over to Turk Hill. Turn around and follow the canal back to the basin.
January 13, 2018 – Run Cancelled
The forecast for overnight Friday into mid-day Saturday is not good for travel or running. I am going to break with tradition and recommend everyone sleep in this week. Roads will most likely not be plowed, making both driving and running dangerous. I am guessing plows will be circulating while we would be running.
I doubt the canal will be runnable either.
For those who insist on coming out – you are on your own. Be safe!
January 6, 2018 – Roads around Powder Mills Park
Given the forecast for the weekend with extreme cold, snow and wind, I thought we should keep it short and try to pick a route that is somewhat sheltered.
Turn left out of the parking lot. Turn right on Park Rd, then left on Corduroy. Turn right on Woolston, then turn left on Railroad Mills. At the tee intersection with Probst, turn left to continue on Railroad Mills. Turn left on Fishers Rd, then left on Woolston.
For 6.5 miles – turn right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd then left on 96 and return to the parking lot.
For 8.5 miles – stay on Woolston. Turn right on Railroad Mills, then right on Park Rd, then a left on 96 and back to the parking lot.
If you want something longer- you can run around the Corduroy-Woolston-Railroad Mills-Park Rd block again – it adds 3 miles.
