Halloween Picture Run – October 31, 2015

It is time for our annual Halloween Picture Run at Powers Farm Market. I checked with Powers, and they have promised to have the teepees open this year. (I have heard this promise in the past, so we shall see!) Dick and Maureen will be on hand for taking this year’s shot.

Head out the canal towards Pittsford – exit onto N. Main St –  Rt. 96 North – turn right.  Take a right on Washington, followed by a right on Golf Ave.  Turn left into Powers Farm Market, just before Marsh Rd.  Gather at the teepees for a picture – around 7:30 am or so.  Return along Marsh Rd, connecting with the canal just after crossing Rt. 31, and return to the basin.  Distance is 9.1 miles.

For something just a little longer – on Marsh Rd just before getting to 31, take the old trolley trail into the woods on the right.  Follow this thru the Senior Complex – and out to 31.  Cross over 31 and pick up the old train bed trail back to the canal – canal back to the basin.  Distance is 10.2 miles

October 24, 2015 – Head Out High St.

Head out 96 towards the mall. Turn left onto High St Extension, then left onto High St.

For 9.4 miles – turn right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, right on 96, then left on Benson. Turn right on Fishers, then left on 96 and back to the parking lot.

For 11.5 miles – turn right on Willowbrook, right on Rowley, then straight onto Main St. Fishers. Turn right on Log Cabin, right on Lower Fishers, then left on Benson. Turn right on Fishers Rd, then left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, then right on Park Rd. Turn left on 96 and return to the parking lot.

For 13.2 miles – stay on High St past Willowbrook. Turn right on Lane, then right on 96 followed by a quick left on 251. Turn right on the Auburn Trail, cross over Phillips, then turn right on Main St. Fishers. Left on Log Cabin, right on Lower Fishers, left on Benson, right on Fishers, left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd, and a left on 96 to return to the parking lot.

For 15.1 miles – stay on High St all the way into Victor. Turn left on 96, then right on School St. Turn right on Rawson, then turn right on the Auburn Trail. Stay on the Auburn Trail to Main St. Fishers. Turn right on Main St. Fishers. Left on Log Cabin, right on Lower Fishers, left on Benson, right on Fishers, left on Woolston, right on Corduroy, right on Park Rd, and a left on 96 to return to the parking lot.

Head out the canal path towards Fairport.  Exit the canal onto O’Connor.  Turn left on Whitney.  Whitney will turn into Five Mile Line Rd.  Turn left on Rt. 441, then left into Linear Park.  Cross over Irondequoit Creek and head up the hill.  Turn left on Lincoln Mills, left on Linden then right on Bluff.  Turn left into Eyer Park.  Take the trail over to Midvale – turn left.  Turn right on Baird, left into BOCES, then take the trail around the back.  Turn right on O’Connor and then right on the canal and back to the basin.  Distance is 13.5 miles.

(Turning left on Linden from Whitney and then left on Bluff Dr. makes the route 11.8 miles)

(For 16.4 miles – on the above route, turn right on 441, left on Baird, left on Whalen and lefto on Five Mile Rd. When you get back to 441, turn right and return to the main route. )

For a longer option with trails – on Whitney at Linden – go under the bridge along the creek to pick up the Linear Park Trail.  Run this all the way down to Panorama Plaza.  Return back up to Linear Park and then follow the usual route back.  Distance is 15.3 miles.

Head out the canal towards Pittsford. Take a right on the connector trail that will take you to Marsh Rd. Cross over Rt. 31, then take a left on the old Trolley Trail. Run thru the Senior Citizen Complex, the trail will take you to 31. Turn right on 31, then right on Schoen Place and continue on the canal. After crossing under the railroad trestle, turn right onto the Pittsford Town Highway road, then take the trail on the left that will lead you over to the old train bed. Follow the train bed over French Rd, and hop off the trail when you are across from Springhouse Commons. Pick up the old Erie Canal trail in the back of the parking lot, and follow this trail back across French Rd, and then connect back with the Barge Canal. Follow the canal back towards the basin. When you get to the power lines past Pittsford, turn left under the power lines, then turn right on the Auburn Train and follow this back to the canal. Return to the basin. Distance is 12.4 miles.

(By-passing the Marsh Rd option and the Power line option reduces the overall distance to 11.7 miles)

For 15.6 miles – when you get back to the Barge Canal from the old Erie Canal trail, turn right and follow the canal out to Edgewood. Turn around at Edgewood and head back following the main route.

For 8 miles – follow the main route, turn around at the railroad trestle, follow the main route return path.

For 10 miles – follow the main route to the first crossing of French Rd, turn around and return to the canal and follow the main route back

For 11.5 miles – follow the main route to the first crossing of French Rd, turn left on French Rd, crossover 31 and then turn left onto the old Erie Canal Trail, rejoining the main route.

With Marsh road still closed, we will need to avoid the canal.

Turn left out of the parking lot. Turn right on Park Rd, then right on East. Turn left on Thornell, then right on Mill Rd. Turn left on East, left on 96, then left on Knickerbocker. Turn right on Mendon, then take the straight option onto Stone. Follow Stone to Clover.  And know for the twist – turn left on Clover, then left on Willard. Turn right on Pittsford Mendon Center Rd, then left on Barker. Turn right on W. Bloomfield, then a left on Thornell and return to the Basin. Distance is 13.9 miles.

For 11.6 miles – instead of going straight onto Stone, turn left onto Mendon Center Rd. Bear left at Calkins to stay on Mendon Center Rd.  Turn left on Barker and rejoin the main route.

For 16.0 miles – from Mendon Center Rd. – turn right on Calkins, then left on Pittsford-Henrietta Town Line Road. Turn left on Lehigh Station Rd., then left on Pittsford Mendon Center Rd. Turn right on Willard and rejoin the main route.
